Safe riding was stressed again this year and members were encouraged to attend both the MSF ERC class and Chapter Group Riding Seminar.

ABC sponsored a Fly-N-Ride contest to the WHOG membership where each club activity attended gave an opportunity to win. This year’s winner was Randy DiAngelo who received a trip to MAUI. This year’s newsletter, The Pigtales, featured a new officer each month from February through May. These members were Penny Van Horn, Bob Rietzer, Karen Badynee-Kwolek, and Mary Lou Trevino.

We had calendars available for $10.00, WHOG rockers with elastic bands, and DVDs of last year’s pictures.

Our Safety Officer, Dan Stolz, kept us aware of Experienced Rider Class (ERC) and the Group Riding Seminars (GRS).

The Ladies of Harley (L.O.H.) Flag was introduced at our February Chapter Meeting. Our winter activities started in February. These activities were the Biker Brunch at Bakers in Milford, Bowling at Century Bowl on Saturday nights, Pool night at the Shark Club on Monday nights, and the Breakfast Buffet at O’Tooles after each month’s Chapter Meeting.

Every Tuesday there was a Biker Lunch at Mel’s Diner # 2.

In March the Club participated in the Spring Fling. Ladies of Harley had a LOH Spa Day.

In April LOH sponsored a Garage Party. WE had a ride to the Soaring Eagle Casino and the Maple Syrup Festival. Boomer’s introduced their Biker Night every Thursday from April 30th through September 17th.

May was designated as Women Rider’s Month. At the Chapter Meeting, we had guests Lori and Jack from FBI, For Better Assistance Dogs. ABC hosted their first open house of the year on May 2nd. The Fly and Ride Contest began on that day. This open house featured the Crewside Band, a caricature artist (Richard Powell) and Balloon Art by Oopsie Daisy. There were rides to Myrtle Beach, Durant for the 34th annual Railroad Days, and Rolling Thunder.

June kept the club busy with rides to an Art Fair in St. Clair, a Music Festival at Jim Bailey’s HD Dealership in Fort Wayne, Indiana, the American Legion Ride with Bob Jones, a Ride to Hell, Howell’s Balloon Festival, and the Million Mile Monday. WHOG joined ABC in welcoming Willie G, the grandson of the co-founder of Harley Davidson, William A. Davidson, to the dealership and on a special ride. Our members, Jerry and Karen Badynee-Kwolek, were pictured in the June 21st edition of the Oakland Press with Willie G and wife, Nancy.

In July, John Brantigan became the sole editor of the PigTales. Our Members rode the Ronald McDonald House Run and the Harley Hero’s Ride. They toured Ohio for the Vintage Bike Show in Ohio, and took part in the Muskegon Michigan Bike Week.

Michigan hosted its first Michigan State HOG Rally in August. Earlier in the year, participants were encouraged to visit all of the HarleyDavidson Dealerships in Michigan, Ohio and Indiana. The participants were given a “passport booklet”, where there were pages to fill with stamps from these dealerships. Prizes were awarded at the Rally. We also had our Chapter Picnic, and rides to Chelsea, Mackinaw, Caseville Cheeseburger Festival, Frankenmuth/Hooters. Our charity ride for Children with Hair Loss netted $1000.00.

At the September Open House, Sticky Wicket performed, Jackie Rose was the psychic, and we had a great Texas Barbeque. The winners of the High Mileage Contest were: Roger Woz (High Mileage Overall), Larry Payne (Top Male), Pat Warner (Top Woman) and Mary and Ralph Trevino (Top Couple). Our trips to the Au Sable River, the Covered Bridge Ride and the Mystery Ride to the Jackson Prison were enthusiastically attended. Wee also had another ride for Children with Hair Loss and the Mel’s Grill Toys for Tots Run. It was announced at the Chapter Meeting that according to our by-laws, there would be elections for a new Assistant Director. The Discretionary Officers, Photographer, Historian, Activities Director and Merchandising Manager, would remain the same.

In October, the Chapter had a full house at the meeting. This was because to win the Fly and Ride to Maui, you had to be present to win. Ann Angrove was the winner. This month was still good for riding, so the Chapter took trips to the Plymouth Chili Cook-Off, the Hamlin Pub, Blakes Cider Mill, Turkeyville and the Lakeville Inn. There was a week-end trip, called the Curves and Color Ride, to West Virginia.

We had Assistant Director Board elections in November. Jerry Kwolek won the election. There was also a Road Rally sponsored by Bernie Fling. Mark and & Penny Van Horn and Jerry & Karen Badynee Kwoleks were the “winners.” The Toys for Tots Charity began Thanksgiving weekend in front of Bass Pro Shop in the Great Lakes Shopping Mall.

Our new WebMaster, Brian Stempien, joined us in December. Our Toys for Tots Charity was a great success. We helped the U. S. Marine Corp collect $53,000.00 plus toys.
