Since 1991 Waterford Harley Owners Group has been riding all over the country to participate and see things such as: rally's, Harley events,  national monuments, national parks, country roads, mountain roads..... The list could go on for days.  Every year the riding schedule is completely full.  From early spring to late fall the riding schedule leaves very few weekends without some ride to go on.  You'll even find several rides planned that don't fall in the "normal" riding season.  With no funny mathematical equations (we count the miles for the ride, not the ride times the amount of riders) the chapter has logged well over 750,000 miles for official organized club rides.  This doesn't even include the hundreds of "pick up" rides that have taken place. 

Waterford HOG isn't the biggest chapter in the Detroit area, but we would put our hearts up against any of the others. While we are proud of and support the effort that the other chapters in town make to raise money for charity, we believe that we are a role model for them.  Beginning in 1993 Waterford HOG began collecting for Toys for Tots.  Since then we have become one of the top contributing organizations in the nation raising well over  $600,000.  Toys for Tots is not the only charity that we've drawn close.  Year in and out we contribute to the Motorcycle Safety Foundation, Karmano's Cancer Institute, American Cancer Society, Paws with a Cause, MDA, Lighthouse, Adopt a Family...... The list goes on.

Riding and having fun safely is not only the goal with Waterford HOG, it is Waterford HOG.  Each riding season begins with a refresh course of safety minded events.  The first being a MSF class, the second being a group riding seminar. Waterford is a leader when it comes to safe group riding.  Several years ago one of our club officers published a Group Riding Safety manual.  This helped in creating the solid foundation the Waterford HOG Chapter has of being one of the safest chapters in the country.  We are proud to say that many other chapters have followed suit since.  Other local chapters have used the knowledge of some of our past/current chapter members to adopt and/or duplicate our standards of group riding.  In fact the Ft. Lauderdale chapter in Florida flew our Safety Officer down to Florida to help organize & train their road captains in safe group riding techniques.

Ultimately Waterford HOG is about enjoying our passion of motorcycling.  We ride and have fun doing it, safely.
